What’s the difference between logic-based and schedule-based flows?

Two fundamental approaches to flow progression:

Schedule-based flows: Advance on fixed time intervals. Day 1: Email 1. Day 3: Email 2. Day 7: Email 3. Same timing regardless of behavior.

Logic-based flows: Progress based on conditions and behavior. Send Email 2 when recipient opens Email 1. Advance when specific action taken. Timing adapts to individual response.

When to use schedule-based: Educational sequences with consistent pacing. Content designed to be consumed in order. Simplicity and predictability valued.

When to use logic-based: Response should influence next step. Conversion-focused sequences. Personalized pacing per recipient.

Hybrid approach: Logic-based with time limits. Wait for condition OR maximum wait time. Combines responsiveness with forward progress.

Schedule-based is predictable. Logic-based is responsive. Choose based on what the experience requires.
