How to test suppressions and exclusions properly?

Suppression testing confirms excluded contacts stay excluded:

Test suppression categories: Unsubscribes: Trigger automation for unsubscribed test addresses. Bounces: Include bounced addresses in test triggers. Complainers: Verify complaint-suppressed addresses are excluded.

Test exclusion logic: Segment exclusions: Verify excluded segments do not enter flows. Recent contact suppression: Test cooling-off period logic. Flow-specific exclusions: Confirm cross-flow suppressions work.

Verification method: Create test contacts in each suppression state. Trigger the automation for these contacts. Verify no sends occur despite trigger qualification. Check suppression logs for proper filtering.

Edge cases: Test timing: suppression applied after trigger but before send. Test data sync: suppression in one system not yet synced to another.

Suppression failures have serious consequences. Testing is not optional.
