What is a transactional email? (e.g., password reset, order confirmation)

A transactional email is triggered by a user's action and provides information they need or explicitly requested. These are service messages, not promotional content.

Common transactional emails include:

Account emails: Password resets, email verification, security alerts, account changes.

Purchase emails: Order confirmations, receipts, invoices, shipping notifications, delivery confirmations.

Service emails: Appointment confirmations, booking updates, ticket delivery, reservation changes.

Key characteristics:

Triggered by specific user actions. Expected by the recipient. Essential to completing a transaction or using a service. Generally not promotional in primary purpose.

Transactional emails are obligations, not opportunities. The customer initiated something that requires a response, and these emails fulfill that requirement.
