How do I make my emails mobile-friendly?
Mobile-friendly email requires attention to readability, tap targets, and content priority. Small screens demand simplicity; what's acceptable on desktop becomes problematic on mobile.
Essentials: Minimum 14px body text (16px preferred). 44x44px minimum tap targets for buttons and links. Single-column layout or responsive multi-column that stacks. Concise content-less scrolling on mobile. Scaled images that don't overflow. Adequate spacing between tappable elements. Thumb-zone CTA placement (lower portion of screen).
Test on actual devices, not just previews. Emulators catch many issues, but nothing substitutes for holding a phone and experiencing the email as recipients will. Send tests to yourself and colleagues on various devices. Can you read it? Can you tap the buttons without zooming? Is the most important content visible without scrolling? If not, redesign.
