What is an email abuse desk?
Abuse desks process complaints about email abuse: spam reports, phishing complaints, and terms of service violations. ESPs, hosting providers, and enterprises maintain abuse desks to handle incoming reports.
Functions include: receiving and triaging complaints, investigating reported abuse, taking enforcement action, and communicating with reporters and accused parties. They're the interface for abuse response.
Contact: abuse@provider.com is conventional address. WHOIS records list abuse contacts. Registrar, hosting, and ESP may have separate abuse desks; contact appropriate party for the issue type.
