How do scammers exploit curiosity or flattery?

Curiosity hooks: "You won't believe what [colleague] said about you," "See who viewed your profile," or "Check this shocking news." Human curiosity compels clicking despite better judgment.

Flattery techniques: "You've been selected for your expertise," "Based on your excellent reputation," or "As a valued customer, you're invited exclusively." Ego gratification reduces skepticism.

Both bypass rational evaluation. Emotional engagement (curiosity, pleasure from flattery) overrides careful analysis. Recognizing these triggers helps maintain appropriate skepticism.
