Should senders care about tab placement?
Tab placement matters differently than spam placement:
Deliverability priority: Avoiding spam folder is critical. This is the real deliverability concern. Tabs are secondary.
Engagement optimization: Tab placement can affect engagement rates. Worth monitoring and optimizing if it materially impacts results.
Audience expectations: Some audiences expect to find your content in Promotions. Being in Primary might be inappropriate.
Do not conflate tab sorting with deliverability problems. They are different concerns with different solutions.
First ensure your ship enters the harbor. Then optimize which pier you dock at.
