Will new RFCs replace SPF or DKIM?
Complete replacement of SPF or DKIM is unlikely in the near term given their deep integration into the email ecosystem. Evolution and enhancement are more likely than wholesale replacement.
SPF limitations around forwarding drove ARC development rather than SPF replacement. DKIM remains strong for message integrity verification. These protocols continue serving their purposes.
Future standards will likely build on existing authentication rather than replacing it. New layers (like BIMI building on DMARC) extend capabilities without abandoning proven foundations.
