Can I ask users not to mark emails as spam?

Directly asking recipients not to click spam is problematic. It appears manipulative and may violate mailbox provider guidelines that prohibit interfering with user reporting.

Instead, focus on making unsubscribe easy and visible. A clear, working unsubscribe link gives recipients an alternative to the spam button. Many people click spam simply because unsubscribe is too difficult.

You can include language like "Not interested? Unsubscribe here" that guides recipients toward the preferred opt-out method without explicitly mentioning spam complaints.

Setting clear expectations at signup about frequency and content reduces the surprise that often triggers complaints. Recipients who know what to expect are less likely to feel deceived.

Asking users not to complain is like asking merchants not to report bad cargo. Better to ensure your cargo quality so complaints never seem necessary.
