What’s the difference between IP vs domain recovery paths?

IP recovery focuses on infrastructure-level remediation:

Blocklist delisting requests to remove your IP from Spamhaus, Barracuda, or other lists. Potential IP changes by switching to new addresses if the damaged IPs cannot recover. Infrastructure cleanup to prevent repeat contamination.

Domain recovery requires behavioral changes:

List hygiene improvements to remove addresses causing problems. Sending pattern adjustments to rebuild trust through consistent, engaged mailing. Content and engagement improvements to generate positive signals.

You cannot escape domain reputation by changing infrastructure. Domain reputation follows you. IP reputation can be reset with new addresses, though the root cause must still be fixed.

IP recovery changes the ship. Domain recovery reforms the captain. One is a fresh start with new equipment. The other requires proving you have genuinely changed your operations.
