What is Mailspike?

Mailspike operates reputation-based blocklists with both free and commercial tiers. Their blocklist (z.mailspike.net) is integrated into SpamAssassin and various email security products, giving it moderate reach.

Impact Level: Low-Medium. Less widely deployed than major lists but included in some default SpamAssassin configurations.

Mailspike zones:

  • z.mailspike.net - Main combined zone
  • bl.mailspike.net - Blocklist zone
  • wl.mailspike.net - Whitelist zone (for positive reputation)

What triggers listing:

  • Spam detected by Mailspike's analysis systems
  • Poor **sender reputation** scores
  • Association with spam infrastructure

Delisting: Mailspike offers automated delisting for IPs that improve their behavior. Check status and request removal at mailspike.org/lookup. Persistent listings may require contacting their support.

Mailspike combines blocklist and reputation scoring - they're not just saying you're bad, they're rating how bad on a spectrum.
