What is PhishTank?
Still have a question, spotted an error, or have a better explanation or a source we should cite?
PhishTank checks domains, and its entries are links. Cisco Talos runs it.
What the operator says
"a free community site where anyone can submit, verify, track and share phishing data" PhishTank FAQ, read 1 Nov 2026.
What it really measures
Whether people reported a link as a phishing page and voted that it is one. It takes more than one person. Your sending does not come into it, and PhishTank discards reports of plain spam.
Why you might be there
A page on your domain was reported as phishing. Either someone put a page there without you knowing, or it was reported by mistake.
What to think about
Treat this as a website security problem first, because your mailing has nothing to do with it. The data is free to everyone, so a listing can travel. For Cisco's own products, it is one factor among many.
How to get off it
Go to the listing's detail page, click "Something wrong with this submission?" and follow the steps. PhishTank says it takes wrong listings seriously. If the page really is phishing, take it down before you ask.
Not sure what this means for you? Ask a person on our free SOS Hotline. Tell us the list and the IP or domain, and we reply within 48 to 72 hours.
