What is PSBL (Passive Spam Blocklist)?

PSBL (Passive Spam Block List) is a trap-based blocklist that lists IPs detected sending spam to a network of passive **spam traps**. It's designed to catch active spam sources without aggressive listing policies.

Impact Level: Low. PSBL is used by some organizations but has limited deployment compared to major lists.

Zone: psbl.surriel.com

Key characteristics:

  • Trap-only detection - only lists IPs hitting their **spam traps**
  • Automatic expiration - listings remove themselves after inactivity
  • No manual submissions - purely automated based on trap hits

Delisting: PSBL listings automatically expire once spam stops. Visit their website to check status and see expiration timeline.

How to check: psbl.org/listing

PSBL is the silent observer - they don't seek out bad actors, they just note who wanders into their traps and how long ago it happened.
