How do you delegate DNS management?

DNS delegation process:

  1. 1. Choose DNS host: Cloudflare, Route53, your hosting provider, etc.
  2. 2. Set up domain at DNS host: Create the domain zone, import or recreate existing records.
  3. 3. Get nameservers: DNS host provides nameserver addresses (like ns1.cloudflare.com).
  4. 4. Update at registrar: Change nameservers to point to your DNS host.
  5. 5. Wait for propagation: Old nameservers fade out, new ones take over.

Important: Ensure all records are set up at new DNS host before switching. Gap in records causes service disruptions.

Delegation is all-or-nothing for a domain. You cannot split between providers (except with subdomains).

Transferring manifest filing authority from one harbor office to another. All documents must be in order at the new office first.
