What’s a confirmation or double opt-in trigger?

A double opt-in trigger sends an automated confirmation email immediately after someone subscribes, requiring them to click a verification link before being added to your active list.

The process works as follows:

Visitor submits email address. Confirmation email sends immediately with verification link. Subscriber clicks link to confirm. Subscriber is added to active list and may receive welcome sequence.

Benefits include:

Verified, valid email addresses. Stronger consent documentation. Reduced spam complaints and bounces. Better list quality from the start.

Tradeoff: Some subscribers never complete confirmation, reducing list growth. However, those who do confirm are more engaged.

Double opt-in filters out accidents, typos, and weak intent. The subscribers who complete it genuinely want your emails.
