DNS Configuration Guide — Ensure all required records are properly configured and validated. Verify Records →

What DNS records are needed for cold email?

Proper DNS configuration establishes technical credibility before your first message is evaluated.

Required records:

MX records: Specify mail servers that receive email for your domain. Even outbound-only domains need MX records to appear legitimate.

SPF record: TXT record at your domain listing authorized sending sources. Format: v=spf1 include:yourprovider.com ~all

DKIM record: TXT record at selector._domainkey.yourdomain.com containing your public key.

DMARC record: TXT record at _dmarc.yourdomain.com specifying your policy and reporting addresses.

Additional considerations:

Reverse DNS (PTR): Your sending IP should resolve to a hostname that matches your domain. This requires coordination with your IP provider.

A record: Your domain should resolve to an IP address, even if it's just a landing page.

Propagation time: DNS changes take time to propagate (up to 48 hours). Configure records well before you need them.

Incomplete DNS signals either negligence or intent to evade. Neither builds trust.
