What is a spam trap?

A spam trap is an email address created or repurposed specifically to identify senders with poor list hygiene or suspicious acquisition practices. Spam traps never engage, never sign up for anything, and never consent to receive mail.

Sending to one indicates that your list contains invalid or inappropriately collected contacts.

A spam trap is like a buoy placed intentionally in open waters. Ships that crash into it reveal they are not following proper navigation charts.
