What is the difference between secure submission (587) and relay (25)?
Port 587 is the modern standard for authenticated mail submission (MUA-to-MTA) from users, as recommended by RFC 6409. Port 25 is the original port for server to server mail relay (MTA-to-MTA).
It's like having one dock for verified crew sending mail and another for cargo ships exchanging goods between ports.
