Is consent a one-time thing?

Consent isn't permanent. It can be withdrawn at any time, and in some interpretations should be periodically refreshed. Like maritime licenses requiring renewal, consent validity depends on ongoing conditions and changing regulations.

**GDPR** specifies consent must be as easy to withdraw as to give. Changed processing purposes may require new consent. Significant changes to your privacy practices or data usage might invalidate prior consent. Some regulators suggest refreshing consent every one to two years.

Best practice: make unsubscribe trivially easy, honor withdrawals promptly, re-confirm preferences periodically for long-dormant subscribers, and treat consent as ongoing relationship maintenance rather than one-time checkbox.
