Message Too Large? — Quick fix: trim attachments and get back to sending. Solve It →

What is “message too large”?

Message too large occurs when the email including attachments exceeds the maximum size allowed by the receiving server. Many servers technically accept messages up to twenty five megabytes although the practical safe limit for deliverability is much lower. Large messages slow processing trigger filtering and often fail silently. This is different from Gmail’s one hundred and two kilobyte clipping limit which affects how a message is displayed not delivered. Reduce file sizes or use cloud storage.
