How often are models retrained?

Model retraining frequency varies by provider and model type. Some components update continuously in near real time, incorporating recent spam examples within hours. Other models retrain on longer cycles, perhaps daily or weekly, to incorporate accumulated data.

Continuous updating helps catch emerging spam campaigns quickly. A new phishing attack spreading virally can be detected and blocked within hours as users report it. However, frequent updates risk instability if training data is noisy.

Major providers typically run multiple models at different update frequencies. Fast updating models catch immediate threats while slower models provide stable baseline classification. This layered approach balances responsiveness with reliability.
