What is the “Yahoo Complaint Feedback Loop” (CFL)?
Yahoo's Complaint Feedback Loop (CFL) provides real time notifications when recipients mark your messages as spam. When a Yahoo or AOL user clicks the spam button, Yahoo sends a report to the email address specified in your CFL registration, typically in ARF (Abuse Reporting Format).
Setting up the CFL requires registering your sending domains and IPs through Yahoo's postmaster portal. Once configured, you receive immediate feedback about complaints, enabling quick response to problems before they damage reputation.
The CFL data reveals which campaigns, subject lines, or recipient segments generate complaints. Use this intelligence to remove complainers from future sends immediately, identify problematic content patterns, and monitor complaint rates in real time. Many ESPs integrate CFL processing automatically, removing complainers and alerting on threshold violations.
