What is the difference between standard and aggregate FBLs?

Standard FBLs send individual notifications for each complaint. When a recipient clicks spam, you receive a report identifying that specific recipient and message. This enables immediate suppression.

Aggregate FBLs batch complaint data into periodic summaries. You receive totals and percentages but may not get individual recipient identification. This provides trend visibility without enabling per-recipient action.

Google Postmaster Tools exemplifies aggregate reporting. You see your spam rate percentage but cannot identify specific Gmail users who complained.

Most ESPs prefer standard FBLs because they enable automated suppression. Aggregate data requires manual analysis and broader remediation strategies.

Standard FBLs name each complaining merchant. Aggregate FBLs tell you how many complaints you received without specifics. Both are valuable, but standard FBLs enable more precise response.
