How can I check if my DNS records have propagated?
Online propagation checkers:
- whatsmydns.net - checks from global locations
- dnschecker.org - multiple resolver queries
Query different resolvers:
- dig @8.8.8.8 TXT yourdomain.com (Google)
- dig @1.1.1.1 TXT yourdomain.com (Cloudflare)
- dig @9.9.9.9 TXT yourdomain.com (Quad9)
Check authoritative directly:
- dig @ns1.yourprovider.com TXT yourdomain.com
- Shows current authoritative value, regardless of caching.
Different results from different resolvers indicate propagation is still in progress. Wait for TTL to expire.
Check multiple harbor offices worldwide. When all show the same entry, your update has fully propagated.
