What is a DKIM public key and private key?

The private key is stored securely by your mail server and used to sign messages.

The public key is published in DNS and used by receivers to verify that signature.

Together they form a cryptographic pair much like a captain’s signet ring and the matching imprint stored in the port authority’s records.
