How do authentication failures affect DMARC aggregate scores?
DMARC aggregate reports count:
SPF pass fail results
DKIM pass fail results
alignment pass fail results
Authentication failures increase the number of failing rows which lowers the effective pass rate.
Mailbox providers may interpret sustained failure patterns as signals of unmanaged Shadow IT or active phishing campaigns.
This reduces trust and can weaken inbox placement for legitimate mail.
