Why does forwarding break SPF alignment?
Forwarding breaks the underlying SPF check because the new sending IP belongs to the forwarder and is not in the original sender’s SPF record. Because SPF fails the domain cannot be used for DMARC alignment regardless of what the alignment would have been.
