Does low bounce rate always mean good list hygiene?
Myth: Low bounce rate equals clean list.
Reality: Low bounces can hide problems:
Silent acceptance:
Some invalid addresses accept mail. Delivered to spam or blackhole. No bounce, but no value.
Spamtrap risk:
Spamtraps often accept silently. No bounce, severe reputation damage. Low bounces with spamtraps is dangerous.
Engagement matters:
Addresses may be valid but ignored. No bounce, no engagement. Reputation damage from ignores.
Complete picture:
Bounce rate is one metric. Engagement rate matters more. Spam placement invisible to bounces. Spamtraps do not bounce.
Low bounces necessary but not sufficient. Combine with engagement and placement data.
