What happens when a mailbox is temporarily suspended?

A temporarily suspended mailbox may recover:

Suspension reasons:

Administrative review: Account under investigation. Security concern: Suspicious activity detected. Billing issue: Payment failed but grace period. Policy violation: Under review.

Bounce behavior:

Usually 4xx temporary codes. "Mailbox temporarily disabled." May convert to permanent after extended time.

Handling approach:

Treat as soft bounce initially. Retry according to normal schedule. Escalate to hard bounce if persistent (weeks).

Recovery scenarios:

User resolves billing: Account restored. Security verified: Suspension lifted. Violation addressed: Account reactivated.

Temporary suspension is quarantine. The account may return to normal, or it may not.
