What’s the right padding/margin balance for mobile?

Mobile requires generous spacing to ensure readability and tap accuracy. Small screens make tight desktop spacing feel cramped and cause accidental taps on wrong elements.

Mobile spacing guidelines: Minimum 16-20px padding on container edges. 44x44px minimum tap targets with adequate space between. Generous line spacing (1.4-1.6 line-height for body text). Clear separation between sections. No elements touching screen edges-add breathing room. Increase spacing, don't just shrink when adapting to mobile.

Spacing is usability on mobile. Cramped emails frustrate readers and cause accidental taps. The extra whitespace that might feel wasteful on desktop becomes essential on a 5-inch screen. Test on actual devices-emulators don't convey the tactile frustration of tapping the wrong link. When in doubt, add more space.
