Do exclamation marks or all caps trigger spam filters?

One exclamation mark won't land you in spam. Multiple exclamation marks (!!!) or ALL CAPS SENTENCES contribute to spam scores but aren't automatic triggers-they're signals evaluated alongside sender reputation, content, and recipient behavior.

The real issue isn't filtering-it's perception. ALL CAPS reads as shouting. Excessive punctuation feels desperate or scammy. Even if you reach the inbox, recipients may judge your brand negatively. \"FINAL SALE!!!\" might not get filtered, but it looks less professional than \"Final sale ends tonight.\"

Write like you'd speak to a valued customer. You wouldn't shout at them in person. Occasional emphasis is fine; a single exclamation mark for genuine excitement is natural. But if your subject needs CAPS AND PUNCTUATION!!! to feel urgent, the underlying message probably isn't compelling enough. Rewrite it instead.
