What are the advantages of email over instant messaging?
Email is permanent and formal, while instant messaging is temporary and casual.
An instant message is a signal flag between two ships, quick and situational. An email is a captain's log or a sealed diplomatic pouch, permanent, searchable, and part of the official record.
It also carries legal weight. You cannot send a contract over Slack. Email creates a time-stamped paper trail that is admissible in court.
