Does engagement fix spam traps?

Engagement cannot fix **spam trap** issues because **spam traps** by definition don't engage. Like trying to rescue a ship that doesn't exist, you cannot rehabilitate addresses that were never legitimate subscribers or became inactive to serve as traps.

Spam traps indicate list hygiene problems. Pristine traps (never valid addresses) suggest purchased lists or poor collection practices. Recycled traps (abandoned addresses repurposed) indicate missing sunset policies. Hitting them damages reputation regardless of other engagement.

Actual fix: identify and remove trap addresses through bounce analysis, sunset flows, and list cleaning services. Prevent future traps through **confirmed opt-in**, regular engagement-based suppression, and never purchasing or scraping addresses. Fix the source, don't compensate with engagement.
