What are the requirements for certification?

Certification requirements typically cover authentication (valid SPF, DKIM, DMARC with passing results), infrastructure (proper reverse DNS, consistent sending IPs), and technical compliance (RFC conformance, proper headers).

Behavioral requirements include complaint rate limits (often below 0.1%), low unknown user rates (indicating list quality), spam trap avoidance, and proper unsubscribe handling. These metrics must be maintained continuously.

Process requirements address consent documentation, complaint handling procedures, list maintenance practices, and organizational accountability. Certification bodies want evidence of systematic good practices, not just good metrics that could result from luck.
