What is “acceptable send velocity”?

Acceptable send velocity refers to how quickly you transmit messages to a provider's infrastructure. Sending too fast triggers rate limiting; too slow may impact campaign effectiveness. Velocity should match your reputation level.

New senders and those with lower reputation face stricter velocity limits. Established high reputation senders can send faster. Velocity that is acceptable for one sender may trigger throttling for another.

Best practice involves starting conservatively and increasing velocity based on provider response. Monitor for 421 errors indicating throttling. Respect provider signals by slowing down when requested rather than pushing against limits.
