What are email image proxies (e.g., Gmail Image Proxy)?
An email image proxy is a server used by mailbox providers to load and cache images on behalf of the user. Examples include Gmail Image Proxy and Apple’s MPP proxy.
They act as intermediaries that fetch images before the user sees them. Providers use them to protect users, scan images for malware, and improve loading speeds by caching.
