How do I know if I've hit a spam trap?

Detecting spam trap hits:

Direct indicators:

Microsoft SNDS shows trap hit data

Blocklist listing citing trap hits

Feedback from postmaster contact

Indirect indicators:

Sudden reputation drop without clear cause

Blocklist listing after specific campaign

Correlation with sending to old or questionable list

Cannot identify specific addresses:

Traps are deliberately hidden

No one will tell you which addresses

Must clean entire suspect segments

Investigation:

What list or segment was sent just before issues?

Was there a new list source?

Were old addresses reactivated?

Hitting a trap triggers alarms but does not reveal which cargo caused it.
