What is graymail?

Graymail is email the recipient technically opted in to receive but no longer finds relevant or engaging. It is not spam but it is not welcome either.

Graymail creates long term deliverability issues because poor engagement signals warn providers that the cargo is no longer valuable. These ignored messages lower a sender’s engagement score, which mailbox providers like Gmail.com use as a major filtering signal. It is the ship that once carried prized goods but now sits ignored at the dock.
