What is the envelope-from (MAIL FROM) vs. header-from (From:)?
The envelope from (MAIL FROM) is used during the SMTP transaction and identifies where bounces should go. The header from (From:) is what recipients see in their inbox.
In nautical terms, the envelope from is the captain's manifest, while the header from is the name printed on the letter's return address.
