How does Apple’s privacy proxy affect link reporting?
This is a common confusion. MPP (Mail Privacy Protection) primarily affects open tracking because it preloads and caches images. It does not usually proxy or block click tracking.
However, MPP indirectly distorts CTOR because it massively inflates the open count. This makes your click performance appear weaker even when real engagement has not changed.
A separate Apple feature called iCloud Private Relay can mask IP addresses during Safari browsing. It may hide geographic information but it does not block or interfere with the ESP’s click redirect from being recorded.
